Battle of the Somme Commemoration Event

Ruaraidh Adams-Cairns, whose career has included service as an army officer and many years as a Chartered Surveyor with Savills, has studied the Battle of the Somme extensively, leading numerous battlefield tours to the area. He and his wife Susie have compiled a talk, interspersed with readings of poetry and letters relating to the battle, which they have kindly offered to give to members of the Two Moors Festival. Ruaraidh has also donated copies of his book (on which the talk is based) which will be available for donation for the Festival.

The brilliant young pianist Henry Lewis was very taken with the idea of commemorating this anniversary and has put together a programme of appropriate piano pieces for the occasion.

Each of these two parts to the afternoon will last between 50-60 minutes and there will be an interval for tea, provided by Elizabeth White Catering, between the talk and the recital. This promises to be an exciting and somewhat unusual afternoon so we hope as many of you as possible will join us and please bring your friends!
