Having originally trained as a barrister, Charles joined Chartered Accountants KPMG in London where he became a senior tax partner prior to retiring to Devon in 2016. He is a Governor of the Purcell School for Young Musicians and of Exeter Cathedral School. Music has always been an important part of his life. He is a keen amateur pianist and choral singer, and two of his children are now professional musicians.
